The background to being in the foreground

Since 1949, Waltons has provided support and expertise to the office supplies industry, becoming today’s leading supplier of stationery, office furniture, IT supplies, specialised filing and promotional gifts. In addition to traditional telephone, fax and e-mail ordering methods, Waltons offers electronic and web-based ordering alternatives. We were the first office products supplier to trade electronically, in 2000, and we are still the industry leader in e-business, with numerous e-procurement products including our own cataloguing maintenance tool and content refinery. We trade and integrate with most external and proprietary electronic marketplaces, and produce electronic catalogues, invoices, statements and usage reports. We also participate in electronic tenders and requests for quotes. With an in-stock situation of over 7000 product lines, we offer a continual supply of stationery, office furniture, IT supplies, cut paper, promotional gifts, specialised filing and scholastic supplies. We carry all leading brands as well as our own. All products are quality guaranteed and prices are competitive. Look out for our Primeline label in your nearest Waltons Branch. Waltons offers a wide and diverse range of high quality office furniture from corporate veneer desking to factory lockers. Our large distribution centres in all major cities in Southern Africa and Namibia are centrally and conveniently located. Furniture showrooms in selected Waltons branches ensure that there is always a furniture store near to you. All our furniture products are made to the highest standards using the finest materials by leading craftsmen.
We deliver from our store to your door with our own fleet of delivery vehicles. Additional services that we offer are space planning and AutoCAD drawings. Furniture can also be manufactured specifically to satisfy our client’s needs. We offer a 5 year guarantee on all locally manufactured products in the event of faulty workmanship, and on selected imported lines a 1 year guarantee is in place. Whilst the acronym BBBEE seems to be the most bandied about term in recent times, Waltons had embraced this broad approach to empowerment as a natural consequence of being in business even prior to its legislation. It is therefore no surprise that upon its first rating Waltons received a BBB rating. Subsequent to this rating Waltons voluntarily sought a rating from one of the most reputable rating agencies in South Africa – Empowerdex. In 2008 using the Generic Broad Based Economic Empowerment Scoreboard as per the Department of Trade and Industry, Waltons was rated as a level 4 Contributor to BEE, thus providing an excellent procurement opportunity to its clients and validation to the world of business that Waltons’ commitment to transformation is far from stationary.
